Production: 3,000 cases

Kirkland Signature 10-Year-Old Tawny Porto is created by blending the very finest aged tawnies from one of the wine world’s oldest demarcated regions of the Douro Valley of Portugal. As with all aged tawnies, this wine is a blend of wines with an average age of 10 years. Working with the globally renowned blending and winemaking team that also produces many great Fonseca Portos, our partners have created a rich, nutty, 10-year-old Tawny Porto that will seduce the senses.

Porto is similar to wine but where wine converts all of the grape sugars to alcohol, for Porto only half the natural grape sugars are converted to alcohol. When half the sugars are fermented to alcohol the winemaker adds neutral grape spirit to arrest the fermentation and Porto is created. Portos can be differentiated from one another by their age. Aged tawnies, such as the Kirkland Signature 10-Year-Old, are aged in small wooden casks. These smaller casks have more surface area and allow the fresh fruit flavor to be converted to zesty, nutty flavors of walnuts and hazelnuts; which makes the Kirkland Signature 10-Year-Old so enticing. Aged tawnies can be stored for approximately four weeks once opened, as long as you seal the bottle back up with cork.

Kirkland Signature 10-Year-Old Tawny is russet in color with brilliant
crimson highlights and a fragrant, ripe-fruit bouquet. Its smooth, silky
texture and subtle oak nuances are balanced by a fresh acidity and
tannic “grip” that culminate in a long, elegant, plumy finish.
